Women's Basketball Heads to Tulane to Face Green Wave

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team (1-3) will take on a crosstown foe when they face the Tulane Green Wave (4-2) on Wednesday at Devlin Fieldhouse. Tip is slated for 6 p.m. and will be on ESPN Plus.

Wednesday marks a milestone for Coach Keeshawn Davenport as she will coach in her 300th game at the University of New Orleans. Davenport is in the midst of her 12th season on the Lakefront as the head coach after playing 100 games during her collegiate career with the Privateers.

The Privateers have made a habit of crashing the boards and earning second chance opportunities. New Orleans is second in the Southland in offensive rebounds per game (13.8). Two Privateers rank in the top eight individually in that category: Nora Francois and Justice Ross.

DeArica Pryor is the conference's leading scorer through the first three weeks of the season. Pryor scored a team-best 14 point in the Privateers' last game eight days ago against Alcorn State. For the season, the senior guard is averaging 19.0 points per game which also ranks 36th in the nation.

New Orleans leads the all-time series 30-21 with Tulane and it's a series that has seen both teams dominate different stretches. The Privateers won 25 straight contests from 1981 through 1993. Tulane has won 13 of the last 15 meetings entering Wednesday. The Green Wave won the last contest between the two sides at Tulane in 2017.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Tulane played in the Cancun Challenge over Thanksgiving Week and went 1-1. The Green Wave lost to Northern Iowa and defeated Central Michigan. Four Green Wave players went for double figures led by Rachel Hakes' 23 points.

The Green Wave are led by Marta Galic who is averaging a double-double this season (13.3 PPG, 10.0 RPG). Galic ranks 29th in the nation in rebounding. Kyren Whittington co-leads the team in scoring at 13.3 PPG. Tulane has committed the 10th fewest fouls per game in the nation.
