Privateers to Finish Non-Conference Play at Hofstra

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team is back on the court on Wednesday evening when they face the Hofstra Pride at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST.

The Privateers battled back resiliently from a big early deficit but were defeated 64-56 by the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. New Orleans trailed by as many as 15 in the first quarter but cut the lead to one in the fourth quarter on two different occasions.

Hennessey Luu-Brown notched career highs in rebounds and assists at New Orleans. The Toronto native pulled down 10 boards and dished six assists. In the last two games, the Privateers have pulled down 103 rebounds and have dished out 34 assists.

This season, the Privateers have either been tied or had an advantage on the glass in six of the eight games this season. The only negative rebound differentials were against Tulane and Wichita State.

DeArica Pryor is second in the Southland in scoring (15.7 points per game) and steals (2.4 steals per game). Pryor has recorded 18 double-digit scoring efforts dating back to last season and has scored in double figures in six of her seven games played. Pryor led the offense with 16 points on Sunday against Rutgers.

It's the second consecutive game the Privateers will be facing a new opponent. New Orleans has never played against Hofstra in program history.

Hofstra is also concluding their non-conference schedule on Wednesday. The Pride defeated Delaware State 59-52 for their first road win of the season. Hofstra is 4-0 at their home gym.

The Pride rank third in the CAA in assists per game at 15.3. Ally Knights is eighth individually in assist per game. Hofstra also ranks in the top five in three-pointers made per game in their conference.

Brandy Thomas leads Hofstra in points, rebounds, minutes, free throw percentage and three-point field goal percentage.
