DAY ONE RESULTS (GOLFSTAT)
DIAMONDHEAD – Tough conditions led to a slow start but couldn't keep the University of New Orleans Golf team down on the first day of the 2022 Gulf Coast Collegiate.
Falling as low at one point as 10
th place,
Jeff Lorio's squad rallied to eventually tie for the lead midway though the second round before finishing the day in fifth-place with a score of 599.
Grayson Gilbert finished tied for fifth-place after rounds of 73 and 72 for a two-round total of 145. The Zachary native sank nine birdies on Monday afternoon.
Florian Moosmeier finished inside the top-20 after turning in a score of 149 following rounds of 74 and 75. Moosmeier also sank nine birdies during the first two rounds.
Playing in his first tournament since the 2020 Colin Montgomerie Invitational,
Ryan Fulton made birdies in five out of six holes early in round one to pace the Privateers. He finished the afternoon tied for 23
rd with a score of 151 after rounds of 72 and 79.
North Alabama leads after day one with a score of 590, while Ryan O'Neil of co-host Nicholls is in the individual lead with a score of 138.
