NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team (12-4) will head to Mobile on Saturday where they will take on the South Alabama Jaguars. The match is set for 2 p.m. at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
The Privateers are coming off a tough loss to Xavier La. on Monday. New Orleans fell just short by a 4-3 score line against the Gold Rush under windy conditions at the University Tennis Center. The Privateers won the doubles point and got singles victories from
Luke Joujan and
Max Heinzel.
Heinzel and
Marcel Volz co-lead the squad with 11 singles victories on the season. Heinzel is 8-2 over his last 10 matches.
For the fifth time in seven matches, the Privateers won the doubles point to open a match. Volz is 10-2 in doubles and 5-1 with
Espen Lagarde. Also in double figures in wins is
Akos Kotorman who is 10-4. Eight of those victories have come while paired with Heinzel.
The Privateers will be on the road for the remaining four scheduled matches of the regular season. They also have conference matches against UIW and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and a non-conference battle at Southern Miss before heading to the Southland Tournament which they will host from Apr. 21-23.
South Alabama (11-6) is coming off a 4-2 win against Coastal Carolina. The Jaguars are 1-0 versus the Southland this year with a 7-0 win against Nicholls. Sebastien Collard and Maxime St. Hilaire co-lead the Jaguars in singles wins with nine each heading into the weekend.
