MATCH POINT - Beach Volleyball Plays Regular Season Finale in Battle on the Bayou Tournament

BATON ROUGE – To conclude the 2022 regular season, the Privateers beach volleyball program looks to come up big against #5 LSU, Central Arkansas, Southeastern, and Nicholls at the Battle on the Bayou tournament in Baton Rouge this weekend.

The Privateers will be going for their first-ever win over a AVCA coaches poll ranked opponent.

"We always look forward to playing at the LSU tournament. We have been relying on our top 3 pairs to win duels for us, but we have a couple new pairings at the 4 and the 5 that I feel are going to strengthen those pairs," says Head Coach Amy Blanke.

The tournament begins Friday when the Privateers (16-12) play the Sugar Bears (13-11) at 1 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. match against the Tigers (23-8).

On Saturday, New Orleans will square off with the Lions (10-16) at 11 a.m. and close it out with a 3 p.m. match against the Nicholls Colonels (1-19). All times are central.

The Privateers come into this tournament on the heels of a historic win against Tulane, currently ranked #20 in the college beach volleyball poll.

This will be the third meeting of the year against both Central Arkansas and Nicholls. This is the fourth meeting against Southeastern.

"Going into this weekend and next we focused on trying to improve on the little things that will have a big impact on winning those close matches. Being able to get a bid to nationals by winning the Southland Conference tournament has been a motivation, so I think the discipline and drive that they had going into this weekend we'll just continue to grow stronger for our conference tournament," says Coach Blanke.
