HOUSTON, Tx.- The Privateers conclude another successful weekend in Baton Rouge and Houston racking up five top three performances and 15 personal records. 41 Privateers competed this weekend.
Leading off at the LSU Alumni Gold meet were the throwers with sophomore
Karena Grigenas setting a new PR in the discus with a throw of 44.43m. This mark moves Grigenas to a fifth place conference ranking going into the conference championship.
Keneva Headley also continues to progress with each meet as she set personal bests in both the long jump (5.14m) and triple jump (10.92).
Freshman
Aryn Pitre led the women on the sprints side running a PR of 25.42 in the 200m dash.
In Houston, the women's distance squad was a class act. Leading was sophomore
Ariana Jimenez who set a new school record that she previously held and ran a personal best time of 10:47.94 in the 3000m steeplechase. Junior
Alexandra Weir placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:10.30, a new PR and a school record. Weir now leads the conference with this time. Placing seventh in the 1500m was
Anna Martin with a PR in the time of 4:42.92.
Mathilde Helms-Kjaer earned a second place finish just seconds off her PR in the 5000m with a time fof 17:33.10. Michelle Folk ran a huge PR in the same race with a time of 18:21.78. Also in the steeplechase was Oxano Bonjorn-Giros who ran a time of 11:29.54.
The men's sprints and middle distance squad racked up four PRs and three top-three finishes. Leading off in the 4x100m relay,
Julian Forde,
Elliott Cummings,
Ismael Kone, and Maison Melancon ran a new PR in the time of 39.63 to place them second behind LSU. Kone placed third in the 200m dash with a new lifetime best and a school record in the time of 20.36.
Alec Snell placed second in the 800m (1:49.50) edging his PR. Both Forde (10.32) and
James Grant (10.78) ran PRs in the 100m dash.
As the sprints and middles distance were wrapping things up in Baton Rouge, our distance squad was just beginning at the twilight invitational in Houston. Junior
Kolyn Saltzman led the Houston crew with an outstanding second place performance in the 3000m steeplechase (8:58.65) and a PR.
Jaden Forester edged his PR in the 1500 with a time of 3:50.04 and a fourth place finish. The 1500m was stacked with four guys hitting PRs:
Cade Litolff (
3:55.82); Adrian Biachara (
3:59.64); Alvaro Canarte (4:05.02);
Antonio Blackwell (4:11.63).
