NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders will resume the Southland Championship on Monday after a second rain delay halted play at the Privateer Tennis Center. Play is scheduled to resume at 9:30 a.m.
New Orleans leads the match 2-1.
The Privateers won the doubles point with a service break from
Akos Kotorman and
Espen Lagarde that sealed the match at flight one by a 6-4 score. In singles, Kotorman took the momentum through a first rain delay and controlled the action throughout most of the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-3 win.
The Islanders got a win at flight three when Matthieu Peres won a second set filled with service breaks for a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
Heading into tomorrow here is how things stand on the remaining matches:
Flight 1: Heinzel (UNO) vs. Lorieul (AMCC) 4-6, 6-2, 2-1
Flight 2: Volz (UNO) vs. Schwartz (AMCC) 6-3, 2-6, 1-4
Flight 4: Joujan (UNO) vs. Yamanaka (AMCC) 6-7 (4), 2-5
Flight 6: Armbruster (UNO) vs. Castaneda (AMCC) 6-0, 2-6, 2-3
