EUGENE, Or. - Privateers Track & Field student-athlete
Ismael Kone concludes his historic season in the semi-finals of NCAA Nationals placing fifteenth in the 100m (10.23) and seventeenth in the 200m (20.64). Kone took eighth in the second heat of the 100m and sixth in the second heat of the 200m. The New Orleans' standout is the first student-athlete in school history to advance to two straight NCAA Division I National Championships. He is also the only Privateer student-athlete to compete in two events at nationals.
The Ivory Coast native's outdoor track & field season is also highlighted by being named the Greater New Orleans Amateur Athlete of the Month for May, being the fastest sprinter in New Orleans' history (breaking the 10-second barrier in the 100-meter dash), being named SLC T&F Athlete of the Year & Outstanding Running Events Performer, and being the SLC champion in the 100m and 200m.
Kone will return to the track for the next indoor and outdoor seasons.
