Women No.9, Men No. 11 in Latest South Central Regional Rankings

USTFCCCA SOUTH CENTRAL RANKINGS: MEN | WOMEN

NEW ORLEANS – Both the University of New Orleans Men's and Women's Cross Country teams remained ranked in the South Central Region by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association this week.

The women come in ranked No. 9 in the regional following their 11th-place finish at the North Alabama Showcase last Friday. The 269 point total placed the Privateers ahead schools like Georgia, Memphis, South Alabama, and Western Kentucky and ahead of Southland-foe Lamar.

Alexandra Weir led the way for the Privateers finishing 16th overall with a time of 17:11:24. Her time was the third fastest 5K in school history, and the fastest time since Privateer legend Michaela Mannova ran a 17:06.89 at the 2000 Crimson Classic.
In a field with almost 400 runners, Rebecca DeKay (29th), Ariana Jimenez (51st) and Tshwanelo Maruping all finished in the top-100 a week ago. Weir, DeKay and Michelle Folk all set new personal bests last week in Huntsville.

The Privateer men remain ranked at No. 11 for the second week in a row after their 14th place finish at the North Alabama Classic. They have now been ranked in 13 consecutive South Central Regional rankings.

Kolyn Saltzman finished 36th overall out of 360 runners with an 8K time of 24:26.93. The New Iberia native now holds five of the top six 8,000 meter times in program history. Jaden Forester crossed the line with a time of 24:35.53 – good for 50th place, while Cade Litolff and Ryan Guenthner finished just outside the top-100.

Privateer Cross Country returns to action in two weeks when they travel to College Station, Texas for the Arturo Barrios Invitational hosted by Texas A&M. The men are set to run another 8K at 9 a.m., with the women set to run a 6K around 9:45 a.m. Information about live timing results will be made available in the future.
