NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers will host the New Orleans Invitational starting on Thursday evening. A total of five teams including the Privateers will participate in the tournament: Lamar, Southern, Texas Southern and Western Illinois.
The tournament will take place at the Lakefront Arena. All matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.

SIP AND SERVE
Before the match on Friday there will be a
Sip and Serve with an opportunity to meet the team. A ticket for Friday's match, brunch and mimosas will all be included for $50. The event is at Spotlights in the Lakefront.

Mauri Carver,
Molly Kehoe and
Sophia Ewalefo all have over 40 kills through the Privateers' first six matches. Ewalefo comes in with two double-doubles in her first six matches of the season. A fourth in
Trinity Jackson is just shy of the 40-kill mark with 39 entering the weekend.
New Orleans is the conference leader in digs at 17.76 per set. The Privateers had 252 digs over 13 sets in their weekend at North Alabama. The Privateers are also 10
th in the nation in digs per set. Individually,
Sheilah Purcell ranks 17
th in the country in digs per set at 5.20.
The Privateers are 44-10 all-time against Southern and Texas Southern. It will be the first meeting in program history between New Orleans and Western Illinois.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Southern has taken one set this season in six matches (0-6) when they were defeated 3-1 against Memphis in the Tiger Brawl. Xaria Taylor leads the offense with 2.38 kills per set.
Texas Southern lost to two Southland schools: HBU twice and UIW. The Tigers played a mid-week match against North Texas which they lost 3-0.
Western Illinois (2-5) picked up their lone victory against Alabama A&M. The Leathernecks have racked up 46 service aces in their first seven matches.
