NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans Cross Country men's and women's teams are both ranked No. 12 in the latest South Central Region polls released by the United States Track and Field / Cross Country Coaches Association.
The Privateer men moved up two spots after finishing in fourth place at last week's Southland Conference Championships with 106 points. Evan Pardo finished in eighth place and earned All-Southland honors to lead the Privateer men in rain-soaked conditions at Windcrest Golf Course. Baptiste Depril-Dupre, Matthew Hansen, Kelvin Chiku and Cade Litolff all placed in the top-30 as well.
The Privateer women remained No. 12 after finishing four points shy of a second straight Southland Conference Championship. Tshwanelo Maruping, Alexandra Weir, and Emma Bourg each earned All-Southland honors after finishing third, sixth and tenth respectively. For Maruping and Weir it was the second straight year being named All-Southland. Sophia Wolf and Rebecca DeKay also finished inside the top-15 for the UNO women.
Pardo was named the Southland's Newcomer of the Year – the first Newcomer of the Year in any conference by a Privateer men's cross country runner. Bourg was named Southland Freshman of the Year – the first conference Freshman of the Year in program history on either the men's or women's side.
The UNO men have been ranked in 22 straight regional polls dating back to February of 2020, while the women have been ranked in 17 straight regional polls dating back to October of 2021. The Privateer men are one of four Southland schools ranked – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is ranked No. 5, UIW is ranked No. 6, and McNeese is ranked No. 10. The Privateer women are one of two Southland teams ranked and sit one spot behind No. 11 Lamar.

Privateer Cross Country will head to Agri Park in Fayetteville, Ark. for the 2023 NCAA South Central Regionals on Fri. Nov. 10 looking to book their place in the NCAA Championships. The women will run a 6K at 10:30 a.m., with the men's 10K set to follow at 11:30 a.m.
