Volleyball Set to Battle Nicholls and HCU at Human Performance Center

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team, fresh off a road win at Lamar, enter a home week where they will face Nicholls and HCU. The Privateers host the Colonels on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and the Huskies on Saturday at 1 p.m.
 
PROMOTIONS
Thursday's match will be a White Out and Academic Honors Night. There will be free t-shirts and free admission for all faculty and staff. Also, our student-athletes who achieved at least a 3.0 GPA last semester will be recognized.
 
Saturday is our Think Pink match in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Privateers are partnered with Zeta Tau Alpha and we encourage all fans to wear pink to the match.
 
The Privateers earned their first Southland win of the season when they swept the Lamar Cardinals in Beaumont last Saturday. Ryan Williams earned a career-high in kills when she registered 16 to lead the offense. Karen Cordero Barr added her fourth double-double of the season.
 
Cordero has been racking up the kills. The graduate student is fourth in the league since Southland play started in kills per set at 3.87. Cordero has registered 58 kills in 15 sets, which included a season-high 18 against Northwestern State.
 
The Privateers played a pair of thrilling matches against the Colonels last season. Both went five sets and New Orleans swept the season series.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Nicholls is still in search of their first conference win as they sit at 0-5. Trinity Vinzant has 105 kills and 122 digs. Autumn Perry is the offensive leader with 116 kills on the season.
 
HCU is the defending regular season conference champion and is 4-1 in Southland play. The Huskies are coming off a sweep of Northwestern State last Saturday. Cassidy Drapela paces the Huskies in kills with 175.
