PREVIEW
The Privateers are looking to lock up a spot, which they can do with a win on either Thursday or Saturday. New Orleans currently holds the last spot in the Southland Tournament and is two games up on both Nicholls and Lamar with two to go.
The Privateers defeated both teams in their first meetings this season. New Orleans scored a 3-1 win behind 13 kills and five blocks from
Sydney Gott along with stifling defense that held the Colonels to a .182 attack percentage.
Ryan Williams led an offense that topped Lamar 3-0 in Beaumont earlier this season. The Privateers also held the Cardinals to a .054 hitting percentage.
Karen Cordero Barr had a double-double that night with 15 kills and 13 digs.
Lani Alleman has been racking up the digs in bunches of late. The true freshman has 112 total digs over her last eight matches. That translates to 4.14 digs per set. Alleman had a career-best 30 digs in a win over UIW.
Courtney Roundtree hit .600 in the team's last match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In her last four matches, Roundtree has 32 kills and her individual match hitting percentages have all been .333 or higher in that span.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Nicholls beat Texas A&M-Commerce to stay in the hunt for the last spot in the tournament last Thursday but lost to Lamar two days later. The Colonels have been led offensively by Autumn Perry who has 217 kills.
Lamar's Lyric Jordan provided a huge boost in the win against Nicholls. Jordan had 22 kills and just two errors in 41 attempts for a .488 hitting percentage. Kaeden Robinson has gone for double-digit digs in 11 of her last 13 matches.
