NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team will make the short trip to uptown New Orleans when they face the Tulane Green Wave on Wednesday at Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The Privateers are coming off a defensive slugfest that they came up just on the short end of when they lost 44-41 to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns at Lakefront Arena. The Privateers held the Cajuns to under 30 percent from the field and out-rebounded them 47-33.

Jayla Kimbrough has provided efficiency for the offense especially in the last three games. Against Houston, South Alabama and Louisiana, the redshirt sophomore accounted for 43 points in 59 minutes logged. She is shooting 56 percent from the field in that stretch. Kimbrough is also averaging 4.7 rebounds per game in that stretch.

Alexis Calderon and
Brianna Ellis continue to pace the team and the Southland in steals per game. Both players are in the top 100 nationally in steals with Calderon ranking 56
th while Ellis checks in at 84
th. Calderon is averaging 2.6 steals per game and Ellis is at 2.3.

The Privateers have a 30-22 lead in the all-time series but the Green Wave have the better of the series lately. Tulane comes in winners of five straight and 12 of the last 13 meetings.

New Orleans had a 25-game winning streak against Tulane from 1981-1993 which is the longest winning streak against any school in program history.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Tulane (3-4) is coming off a 70-60 loss against Missouri State in their most recent game last Friday. The Green Wave have victories over Stetson, Prairie View and Mercer this season. Their other losses have come to Virginia Tech, Nicholls and Virginia.

Four Tulane players are averaging over 30 minutes per game. Kyren Whittington leads the team with 15.1 points per game. She scored a season-high 26 against Virginia Tech. Whittington also leads the team in free throw shooting and steals.
