NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team makes the short trip to the state capital where they will face the LSU Tigers on Sunday evening at the LSU Tennis Complex. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
New Orleans (3-3) has endured some stiff competition this season. The Privateers have faced UC-Santa Barbara (34) and UTSA (67) who are both ranked within the top 75 of the latest ITA rankings, which were released earlier this week. LSU is also ranked 39
th in the latest ITA ranking report.
It's been a while since the last match on court for the Privateers. Their most recent outing was a loss against South Alabama on Feb. 17.
Lilian Dubois collected the Privateers' point on the day.
Though
Marcel Volz has been out due to injury, the duo of he and
Espen Lagarde still moved up the ladder in doubles rankings. They are now 22
nd in the country as of this week.
Also, New Orleans has put forth a strong effort in doubles as a team. They are a combined 13-3 heading into the weekend.
Karim Al-Amin and
Matthew Armbruster are 5-0 as a pair between flights two and three.
Luke Joujan has played four singles matches and is 3-1 on the season. Joujan has wins over UC-Santa Barbara, Jackson State and Loyola. In his latest, Joujan took South Alabama's Louis Delcour the full three sets.
LSU (5-1) has a nationally ranked singles player and doubles team. Ronnie Hohlman is ranked 30
th in the nation in singles. In doubles, Stefan Latinovic and Nick Watson are ranked 24
th. The Tigers have a busy weekend with a match against Southern Miss on Saturday and a match against Louisiana earlier on Sunday.
