NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team heads to the final day of the regular season, looking to lock up a spot in the Southland Tournament. They will travel to face the McNeese Cowgirls on Wednesday at the Legacy Center. Jude Young will have the call starting with the pregame show at 4:45 p.m.
on the Privateer Sports Network. Tip is scheduled for 5 p.m.
New Orleans heads into Saturday the last day needing a win or an HCU loss to qualify for the Southland Tournament. The Privateers are currently in a three-way tie for sixth and are one game ahead of ninth-place HCU.
DeArica Pryor won her third Southland Player of the Week award in a Privateer uniform and her second this season. Pryor averaged 25 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in the Privateers' 2-0 week against Nicholls and Lamar. She hit the game winning layup with 6.1 seconds remaining to preserve the season sweep against the Cardinals.

Keeshawn Davenport earned her 11th win against McNeese. That joins Northwestern State and Southeastern as the teams Davenport has beaten the most.
The Privateers continue to be highly efficient in second halves of games and that was on display again at Lamar. New Orleans went 16-of-29 from the field in the second half against the Cardinals. In the last four games, the Privateers scored a total of 182 points in the third and fourth quarter in the last four games. In that stretch, New Orleans shot 54.1 percent from the field (66-for-122).
New Orleans defeated McNeese earlier this season at Lakefront Arena 65-59. In that game, the Cowgirls were held to three field goals made in the entire second half.
McNeese is also looking to secure a spot in the tournament. The Cowgirls have lost five of the last six games. Paris Mullins leads McNeese in scoring at 9.4 points per game. Divine Tanks averages 8.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Tanks had 18 points in the first meeting against New Orleans.
