Men's Tennis Hosts UIC in Conference Bout

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's tennis team will return to the court on Tuesday when they face the UIC Flames on Tuesday at the Privateer Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Privateers are 8-5 on the season and 1-0 in Southland play. The match against UIC will count as a Southland match since the Flames are playing a full schedule this spring.

New Orleans last played on Wednesday, Mar. 15 when they defeated NJIT 5-2. The Privateers handed the Highlanders just their second loss of the season. New Orleans won the doubles point with two tiebreak victories.

Karim Al-Amin is on a five-match winning streak in singles and is 9-2 on the season. Al-Amin has picked up wins in that span against Southern Miss, Alcorn State, Nicholls, Samford and NJIT. His match against an opponent from Rice went unfinished.

Tuesday marks the second of a six-match homestand for the Privateers who are undefeated (6-0) at the Privateer Tennis Center this season.

The Privateers have not played UIC on the courts in their program's history.

UIC (6-10) defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in their conference opener 4-3 on Friday, Mar. 10. UIC won both three-set matches in singles. Aleksa Bucan defeated Pascal Lorieul 6-0 in the third set and Gustavo Schwebel scored a 6-2 win in the third set.

That win snapped a slide that saw the Flames lose five of their previous six matches. UIC has only played three of their 16 matches at home this season.
