Box Score LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Murray State Racers got out to sizable advantages in each of the first two sets as they defeated the New Orleans Privateers 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-18) on Friday at Knights Hall.
The Racers jumped to a 16-6 advantage but the Privateers were game in their comeback attempt. New Orleans trimmed the deficit down to as little as four points on multiple occasions but the Racers held off the Privateers to take the opening set.
Murray State asserted themselves early in the second set as they built a 10-point lead after the first 16 rallies. For the set, the Racers hit .571 and had 18 kills with just two errors in 25 attempts. They also connected on four aces from the service line.
In the third set, the Privateers hung tight early but Murray State gradually got further away on the scoreboard thanks to a 15-8 advantage in the kill department. For the match, the Racers hit .382 in 102 attempts.
INSIDE THE BOX
Karen Cordero Barr led the Privateers with seven kills.
Ryan Williams added four kills while
Ola Filip and
Sydney Gott each had three. Cordero also landed in double figures in digs with 12 to lead the squad in that department.
Darci Metzger had a team-best 15 kills and hit .500. Haidi Miliou followed with 12 kills. Dahlia Miller led the team in digs with 14.

The Privateers will close the weekend on Saturday against Southern Indiana.
