NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team will start their Southland schedule on Thursday and Saturday. The Privateers will host Northwestern State at the Human Performance Center on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. before traveling to Lake Charles to face McNeese on Saturday.

Thursday is Greek Night. All sororities and fraternities are encouraged to attend and show off their strolls. The organization with the most members in attendance will win free pizza at the Privateers' Homecoming match on Nov. 11.
The Privateers most recently participated in the Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic hosted by Louisiana.
Karen Cordero Barr earned All-Tournament honors for the second time this season. She also earned that distinction at the GSU Invitational.
Molly Kehoe also contributed 36 digs over the weekend and had her first two collegiate matches with double-digit digs. That included a 25-dig performance against Louisiana last Friday, which was over three times her previous career best (8).
Ava Kennon has been an efficient scorer from the middle for the Privateers this season as evidenced by her hitting percentage, which ranks fourth in the Southland heading into the week. Kennon is hitting .324 this year and has four matches with an attack percentage of .400 or higher.
New Orleans, picked eighth in the Southland preseason poll, is taking on a squad in Northwestern State who won their conference opener. The Privateers lost both outings to the Lady Demons last season but both matches were highly competitive. The two sides played nine sets against each other in 2022.
The Privateers were defeated in both tilts against McNeese last season.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Northwestern State (5-7, 1-0) is on a five-match winning streak that culminated with three victories over in-state foes in the Battle for the Boot. The Lady Demons defeated Southland foe, Southeastern and also had wins over Louisiana Tech and ULM. Reaghan Thompson leads the conference in blocks per set at 1.45.
McNeese (3-11, 1-0) also won their conference opener after they topped Texas A&M-Commerce in three sets on Sept. 14. The Cowgirls defeated ULM on Tuesday in a four-set battle at home. Megan Grose leads the conference in assists per set at 9.50.
