NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers hit the road for the first of three consecutive matches. They will take on Stephen F. Austin on Thursday in Nacogdoches with a trip to Lamar on Saturday to follow.
Both matches will be carried on ESPN+.
The Privateers' most recent match was a 3-0 loss to Nicholls. The match happened on Oct. 12 and New Orleans will not return home for 19 days.
From the middle,
Courtney Roundtree has led the Privateer offense this season. She has 137 kills on the year with an average of 2.17 per set. Roundtree has five matches with 10 or more kills, her latest coming against McNeese on Oct. 10. Of her 45 blocks recorded this season, 16 have been solo.
Lani Alleman had 25 digs in the recent home stretch. Alleman had 10 digs against McNeese and followed that up with 15 digs against Nicholls last Saturday. Alleman has 158 digs in 61 sets played this season.
This will be the first time the Privateers are playing Stephen F. Austin since 2020. When the Lady Jacks left the conference to join the WAC, the two teams did not face each other on the volleyball court. Stephen F. Austin leads the series 16-5.
New Orleans will be playing Lamar for the second time this season. The Cardinals won the first meeting this year on Sept. 28. Lamar leads the all-time series against the Privateers 30-22.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Stephen F. Austin is engaged in a fierce battle with Southeastern for the regular season title. Neither has lost a conference match to date (Southeastern at 7-0 and Stephen F. Austin at 6-0). Izabella Ortiz leads the offense with 221 points scored and 171 kills. Ortiz (67) and Keanna Creecy (71) pace an SFA defense that is second in the conference in blocks.
Lamar won the first match against the Privateers 25-17, 25-20, 25-23. Lyric Jordan led the Cardinal offense that day with 12 kills. Lamar sits in a tie for eighth in the Southland standings with UIW heading into the week at 2-4.
