NEW ORLEANS – University of New Orleans golfers
Taylor Boasberg and
Maximilian Wojciechowski both started strong, recording opening rounds under par and finishing the first day of the HCU Husky Intercollegiate tied for eighth and 11th, respectively. As a team, New Orleans currently sits in fifth place with a total score of 588.
Boasberg continued his impressive form with rounds of 71 and 73, putting him at even par and tied for eighth alongside DePaul's Billy Gneiser. His opening round marked the second time in his Privateer career that he finished below par, and he made six birdies throughout the day.
Wojciechowski is just outside the top 10, finishing tied for 11th after rounds of 70 and 75. The highlight of the day for UNO came during the first round when Max made his first career hole-in-one on hole no. 17. He joins teammate
Gabriel Gallego as current Privateers with an ace after Gallego made one at last year's Gulf Coast Collegiate. In addition to his hole-in-one, Wojciechowski recorded four birdies.
Completing the scoring for New Orleans were
Tom Watson with a score of 149,
Matt Weber at 152, and
Garrett Trahan at 155.
The Privateers' 59 pars are tied for second in the field with HCU, and they also converted 10 birdie opportunities to go with Wojciechowski's hole-in-one.
The final round of the HCU Husky Intercollegiate will begin with a shotgun start tomorrow at 8:15 a.m. New Orleans will be paired with Cal Baptist and UIW.

HEAD COACH JEFF LORIO
"I thought we had a great effort today. We had some trouble this afternoon with the wind but the guys fought hard and stayed in it to give us a chance tomorrow. For the first time this year, we have an opportunity to win an event. It will take a good round but we put ourselves in position and have the opportunity. Looking forward to see how we come out and compete.
