Privateers Host Stephen F. Austin on Halloween, Celebrate Senior Day vs. HCU

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team will begin their final home stretch of the season with two matches this week. On Halloween night (Thursday), New Orleans will face Stephen F. Austin at 6:30 p.m. Senior Day against HCU follows on Saturday at 1 p.m.
 
Both matches will be carried on ESPN Plus.
 
New Orleans is coming off a loss at UIW on Saturday. Kaila Baker had eight digs for the Privateers who as a team had 51 total digs (17 per set). It was the Privateers' highest digs per set total this season since they had 54 in a three-set match against Southern on Sept. 7.
 
Senior Day will honor four student-athletes: Jamiryana Hall, Buse Kocakaya, Vera Beltrame and Molly Kehoe.
 
Hall came to the Privateers after a three-year stint at Central Arkansas where she amassed 365 kills in 136 sets. Kocakaya has 154 kills in two seasons with the Privateers in 82 sets played entering the week. Beltrame was second in school history at Park University in career assists per set and had a 57-assist, 17-dig performance against UIW in 2023. Kehoe has spent four years with the Privateers and has 154 kills in 137 sets. She had a career-best 20 kills against Georgetown.
 
The Privateers were defeated 3-0 by Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches. Saturday's meeting against HCU is the first and only contest versus the Huskies this season.
 
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Stephen F. Austin (17-6, 9-1) will be traveling for the first time since a 3-2 victory at UIW on Oct. 12. The Ladyjacks have limited opponents to a .179 hitting percentage, second lowest in the Southland. Kyanna Creecy is hitting .379,
 
HCU is at 4-5 in conference play and currently sits sixth in the standings. Grace McLaughlin is one of three student-athletes in the Southland Conference averaging over 10 assists per set. Audrey Pearce is hitting .348, which ranks sixth in the conference heading into the week.
