NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans cross country program wrapped up its 2024 season on Friday morning at the NCAA South Central Regional in College Station, Texas. The Privateer women finished 16
th with 462 points, while the short-handed men had no team score.
Mason Appleton set a new personal best with a time of 32:12.0, good for a top-100 finish. The junior's time was also the eighth fastest time in school history, and ranks sixth on the school's all-time performance list.
Josh Johnston, running in his first NCAA regional and first collegiate 10K, finished in 32:44.8 (119
th).
Antonio Delgado, also competing in his first NCAA regional and collegiate 10K, finished 153
rd in 33:39.1.
Gary Sandrock, who become the second male Privateer to run in four NCAA regionals following Mark Golay, finished 161
st with a time of 34:14.3. Senior
Kenneth Cerrato pulled out after the 4k split due to injury, giving the men no team score.
Emma Bourg and
Sophia Wolf both added top-20 times to the school record books on Friday morning at Dale Watts Cross Country Course. Bourg finished 72
nd in 21:18.0, the 15
th fastest 6K mark in school history. Wolf finished right behind her in 74
th with a time of 21:19.5, the 18
th fastest 6K mark in school history.
Petra Imre (22:01.7 – 112th),
Annika Metzger (22:11.1 – 117
th), and
Irene Bonanomi (22:11.1 – 123
rd) ran together as a pack and finished within 10 spots of one another.
Michela Papalia finished 140
th in 22:31.8, and
Oxana Bonjorn-Giros finished 151
st in 22:42.8. The Privateer women averaged 21:47, the second fastest average at an NCAA Regional in school history.
