NOTES 
NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team will take the trip down I-10 West to Lafayette for a Tuesday evening game against the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game will be carried on ESPN+.
 
New Orleans had a valiant effort as they rallied late in a 78-70 loss at Texas Tech on Saturday. The Privateers trailed by as many as 19 points but cut the lead all the way down to five points in the final minute of the contest.
 
Jayla Kimbrough scored 19 points with 17 coming in the second half. That followed up her first collegiate double-double which came last Tuesday when she posted totals of 13 points and 10 rebounds against South Alabama. Kimbrough is 11
th in the conference in scoring heading into the week at 13.4 points per game.
 
Nora Francois is also coming off a career-best in rebounding. Francois had 17 boards against the Red Raiders, which bested her previous single game high of 13. It was the most rebounds in a single game by a Privateer since Shania Woods also had 17 rebounds against Southeastern on Mar. 6, 2019.
 
Tuesday will mark the 75
th meeting between the two programs on the hardwood. New Orleans leads the all-time series 45-29 and is ahead 20-15 in games played in Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns won a defensive battle by the score of 44-41 at the Lakefront Arena in December 2023.
 
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Louisiana (2-1) has picked up two wins against in-state schools after losing their season opener in the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge against Northern Illinois. The Ragin' Cajuns defeated Loyola (La.) 74-50 and most recently picked up a 60-55 win against Nicholls.
 
Jaylyn James made her season debut against Nicholls and scored 16 points in 23 minutes. As a team, the Ragin' Cajuns have forced a lot of turnovers. All three of their opponents have committed a combined 73 turnovers through the first three games.
