WACO, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers face another tough road challenge as they take on the Baylor Bears on Friday afternoon. The game is set for a 2 p.m. tip at Foster Pavilion and will be carried on ESPN+.
The Privateers lost their most recent game, a 61-46 decision to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns. The Privateers fell behind by 22 at halftime. A big third quarter nearly sliced the lead in half but the Privateers could not get closer in the fourth.
Jayla Kimbrough (11) and
Nora Francois (10) notched double figures in points.
This marks the third game against a Big 12 opponent this season. The Privateers have also faced TCU and Texas Tech. The Privateers are 14-20 all-time against current Big 12 members. Eight of the Privateers' 14 wins came against UCF. The two were American South and Sun Belt rivals from 1990-92.
Alexis Calderon is closing in on 100 career steals. After having 72 last season, Calderon is at 16 through the first six games this year. She would become the 34th Privateer to reach the century mark in career steals. Michelle Anderson (1980-84) is the program's leader in career steals with 406.
This will be the sixth meeting all-time between the Privateers and the Bears. New Orleans won the first three meetings, but Baylor has won the last two. The most recent contest came in Waco in 2021.
