NOTES
New Orleans
Alabama

The Privateers held their final tune-up for the season last Wednesday, Oct. 30 when they defeated the Loyola Wolfpack 81-64. After falling behind by six through the first quarter, the Privateers opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run. New Orleans pulled away in the fourth behind balanced scoring and 35 turnovers forced.

Gabbi Cartagena was all over the court as she posted a full stat line with 11 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists. Jasmine Jones scored a team-high 15 points and made three of the team's seven triples on the night.

Monday will mark the first game against a nationally ranked opponent at the time of competition since November 2021. That year, the Privateers played consecutive ranked opponents (Texas and Baylor).

Last season, the Privateers held their collective opponents to 39.6 percent shooting from the field. It was the first time New Orleans held opponents under 40 percent for a season since the 2019-20 campaign. The lowest field goal percentage allowed by a Privateers squad in a season was 36.7 (2009-10).

Three of the Privateers' top four scorers are back from a year ago. Nora Francois, Alexis Calderon and Jayla Kimbrough combined to average 30 points per game last year. Francois led the team in rebounding, Calderon led in steals and Kimbrough led in field goal percentage.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
The Crimson Tide are coached by Kristy Curry who is on the doorstep of 200 wins at Alabama. She enters the season with 197 victories as head coach of the Crimson Tide and 506 total in 25 seasons as a head coach.

Alabama got to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year and brings back eight student-athletes from that team. Sarah Ashlee Barker led the Crimson Tide in scoring last year at 16.8 points per game. Diana Collins (Ohio State), Christabel Ezumah (Campbell) and Zaay Green (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) all transfer into Tuscaloosa and have collectively scored over 2,100 points in their collegiate careers to date.
