Women's Basketball Set for Texas Two-Step Road Trip at TCU, Tarleton State

FORT WORTH, Texas – The New Orleans Privateers women's basketball team will begin a Texas two-step road trip on Sunday with a visit to the TCU Horned Frogs (2 p.m.). Two days later, the Privateers head to Stephenville to face the Tarleton State Texans (11 a.m.).

Both games will be carried on ESPN+.

The Privateers were dealt a 115-53 loss in the season opener against #24 Alabama. The Privateers shot efficiently for a large portion of the game as they connected on 46 percent of their field goal attempts through the first three quarters.

Nora Francois, Jasmine Jones and Jayla Kimbrough all reached double figures in scoring. Francois just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. Jones also finished with 10 points while Kimbrough led all Privateers with 11.

This season featured road games against teams from power four conferences in Alabama and TCU to start the year. It's the second time since 2000 in program history the Privateers had two such games to open the season. They played Texas and Baylor to open the 2021-22 campaign.

The Privateers had the best free throw percentage in the Southland last year, hitting at a 73.8 percent clip. They hit at over 80 percent in 11 games last season. Their free throw percentage was the second highest in a single season in program history.

New Orleans and TCU have played only once in program history, a game that TCU won 85-36 back in November 2015.

The Privateers defeated Tarleton State 67-59 at the Lakefront Arena last season on Dec. 18.
