NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's and women's tennis teams hit the road for a critical conference swing at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UIW. The Privateers will play the Islanders on Saturday and the follow with the Cardinals on Monday.

MEN'S PREVIEW
New Orleans (4-5, 1-0) came off a solid win against Nicholls to open conference play at the Privateer Tennis Center. The Privateers won 5-2 after taking the doubles point and singles matches at flights one, two, three and five.

Luke Joujan earned a win over Harry Collins who was a Southland Player of the Week earlier in the season. Joujan beat Collins in straight sets to set his win total at five which leads the roster this season.

The Privateers will be facing the Islanders in a rematch of the last two Southland champions. New Orleans defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 2022 and the Islanders took the postseason title I 2023. Both matches finished with a 4-3 score line.

WOMEN'S PREVIEW
The Privateer women (3-7, 1-1) dive back into conference play after a busy non-conference stretch to begin the week.

New Orleans put up a strong battle in a 4-2 loss to Tulane on Monday. The Privateers followed by winning the doubles point against Jacksonville State on Tuesday.

This week kicks off a stretch where the Privateers will play three of the next four matches on the road all against conference foes. New Orleans will also take on Nicholls in Thibodaux on Apr. 3.

Laurie Barendse and Ksenia Reznitskaya continue to be a strong doubles tandem. The pair accrued a 5-0 mark after their most recent victory. All of their wins have come at flight two. Also, Anastassia Kouchnareva and Tristanne Dechoux lead the way with six doubles wins as a team, all at flight one.

Kouchnareva leads the way in singles victories to date with five wins. Barendse and Dechoux both have four wins.

The Privateers earned a win over UIW in the regular season last year. After losing the doubles point, New Orleans won five out of six singles matches against the Cardinals.
