Serena Baumgart and
Anne Marie Hardouin dominated San Jose State Friday despite the 3-1 team loss in the first round of the Southland Beach Volleyball Championships.
Baumgart and Hardouin were the first to earn a dual point after earning a straight sets win that included an early 8-2 run to open the first set. Senior
Valerie Vujnovich and freshman
Nikelle Lander trailed the Spartans by one point for the majority of the first set before SJSU advanced to their first set win. The second set mirrored the first with Cheyenne Rice and Teila Allen taking the second set. SJSU broke the dual tie on court five after winning in straight sets before clinching the match on court three against
Hannah Volpi and I De Carvalho Peixe.
The Privateers will face No. 8 Nicholls State at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 20. The Colonels dropped its opening tournament match 3-0 against reigning SLC Champions in Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
