DAY TWO RESULTS
KERRVILLE – With winds swirling through the Texas Hill Country, the University of New Orleans golfers maintained their position from Monday in the Southland Conference Tournament. For the second straight day at Comanche Trace, New Orleans shot a 292 and sat in fourth place at the end of play on Tuesday afternoon.
Kyle Bennett leads UNO and sits inside the top ten individual golfers. The Zachary native is tied for eighth with Rory Bennett of Lamar. Kyle joins
Grayson Gilbert as the only Privateer to shoot par or better in the opening two rounds of a Southland Championship. Gilbert opened last year's tournament with a pair of 71s before shooting 73 in the final round. No Privateer has ever shot all three rounds of a Southland Tournament at par or better.
Bennett made birdies on four and nine, leaving him 2-over-par at the turn. Six pars, a birdie on 13, and his fourth eagle of the season on hole 17 during the back nine brought him back to even par for the day. He currently leads the field in scoring average on par 5 holes (4.38) and has six birdies this week to go with his eagle.
Matt Weber and
Ryan Fulton both moved up one spot on Tuesday and are tied for 13th with several others at 3-over-par. Both Privateers have used first rounds of 74 and second rounds of 73 for their 147 totals.
After opening his afternoon with three straight bogeys, Fulton settled down with birdies on four and nine, and nine straight pars during the back nine. He leads New Orleans with seven birdies so far in the tournament.
Weber had a pair of birdies and his second eagle of the season on Tuesday. He ranks third in the field in pars made so far with 23 and tied for third in scoring average on par 5 holes at 4.63 through 35 holes.
Mason Roberts was 11 strokes better on Tuesday after a second-round score of 74. Roberts made two birdies this afternoon, giving him five for the tournament. He moved up seven places and is now tied for 42nd.
The final round of the 2024 Southland Championships gets underway for New Orleans at 11:30 a.m. with
Mason Roberts teeing off first for UNO. The Privateers will be paired with Bryant and Francis Marion.

WE ARE YOUR KREWE
For 54 seasons, Privateer student-athletes have had the unique experience of wearing New Orleans across their chests. Like the city itself, our sports teams have been fueled by resiliency, grit, and the unquenchable desire to win. Our city also houses the nation's biggest celebration each year. And much like a Mardi Gras parade krewe, we are tethered to our community through pride, tradition, a culture of acceptance, and finally our commitment to show that New Orleans is a world-class city to live, learn, play, and work. We invite you to become more involved with the only University that truly represents New Orleans all day, every day. Join #NOLAsTeam, We Are Your Krewe!
