Matt Weber Shoots Even Par on Final Day of the Golfweek Fall Challenge

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans finished the Golfweek Fall Challenge with a score of 903 – good for 13th place on Tuesday afternoon.

Matt Weber became the first Privateer to shoot par or better this season after breaking even on Tuesday afternoon. After improving by one stroke between rounds one and two, he improved four strokes between rounds two and three. The Lafayette native finished tied for 50th with a score of 225 after making 33 pars and eight birdies.

Canon Clark also finished at 225 tying him with Weber and two others for 50th place. Canon had his best round of the tournament on Tuesday, shooting a 74.  Clark made two of his eight birdies during round three and finished his last nine holes with eight pars and a birdie.

Maximilian Wojciechowski finished tied for 62nd with a score of 228 after putting a 74 on the final round of his scorecard. Wojciechowski opened the day with three straight birdies, and then was par or better on nine of his next 10 holes. The senior led the Privateers with nine birdies over the course of the tournament, including four on Tuesday.

Tom Watson finished tied for 69th in his Privateer debut after shooting 232. The Englishman led the Privateers with 34 pars made, and also made four birdies after his 54 holes at True Blue Golf Club. Gabriel Gallego also finished tied for 69th with a score of 232 with eight birdies during the Golfweek Fall Challenge.

Arkansas State won the event with a score of 829 – 12 strokes ahead of Wright State. Patton Samuels of Austin Peay took home the individual title after shooting 201 – two strokes ahead of Wright State's Andrew Flynn.

Next up for the Privateers is a trip to Jackson Country Club in Martin, Tenn. For the Grover Page Classic on Sept. 16-17.
