NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans Cross Country program returns to action on Friday evening at the Azalea City Classic hosted by the University of South Alabama.
Both the men and women finished in fifth place at the Battle for New Orleans to open the season on August 29. Five Privateers set personal bests that evening at Lake Oaks Park –
Mason Appleton,
Emma Bourg,
Petra Imre,
Michela Papalia, and Dairia Rojas Vasquez.
New Orleans has run in the Azalea City Classic seven times before – in 1985, 1987, 1996, 1999, 2013, 2014, and most recently in 2018. Jana Bulirova won the race in 1999 after finishing her three miles in 17:44.45 – a time that still ranks No. 2 in school history.
The women's 6K is set to start a 6:05 p.m. with the men's 8K following around 6:30 p.m. Fans can follow along at the link above or check @PrivateersTFXC on X for updates during the evening.
