NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers will have a home-and-home bout this week against the Southeastern Lions. Tuesday's match at the Human Performance Center is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with the return trip to Hammond on Thursday also at 6:30 p.m.
The Privateers were defeated 3-0 by UIW in their most recent match on Saturday.
Courtney Roundtree led the offense with seven kills while
Lani Alleman paced the team in digs with 10 on the afternoon.
Defne Eciroglu moved into the top ten in career assists in program history on Saturday. The junior setter now sits in ninth place all-time with 1,467 assists. Next on the list is Erin O'Connor who is in eighth place with 1,587.
Roundtree has 208 kills this season. She is six kills away from surpassing her 2024 total of 213 kills. For her career, the senior middle blocker has 625 kills entering this week.
With six matches to go, the Privateers remain two games behind East Texas A&M for the final spot in the Southland Tournament. The Privateers have an even split of home and road matches remaining in their regular season schedule.
New Orleans leads the all-time series history 45-30. The Lions have won five straight and nine of the last ten meetings coming into the week. The last Privateer win was in September 2022 at the HPC.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Southeastern is second in the Southland in points per set at 17.31 and second in the league in opponent hitting percentage. Teams are hitting at a .184 clip against the Lions' defense this season.
India Bennett ranks third in the nation and paces the Southland in blocks per set at 1.68. Bennett has registered at least five blocks in a match 11 times this season including a season-high 13 against Jackson State. Kyra McKelvey is second in the conference in hitting percentage (.362) and kills per set (3.87).
