NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers outscored the LSU-Eunice Bengals by 22 points in the second half and four players reached double figures in a 102-68 victory on Wednesday night at the Lakefront Arena.
New Orleans kept the pressure on the Bengals throughout the night as they forced 25 turnovers and converted that total to 31 points. The Privateers also had 29 fast break points on the night and out-rebounded LSU-Eunice 65-34.
From tipoff, New Orleans controlled the action throughout most of the night. They scored 14 consecutive points to begin the game before the Bengals got their first bucket on a layup at the 4:45 mark in the first quarter.
The Privateers also got the free throw line with regularity. They had 39 free throw attempts on the night. New Orleans also scored 59 points in the paint and had 29 assists on 35 made field goals.
LSU-Eunice got the game within single digits early in the second half as they cut the lead to 57-50 with 5:09 remaining in the third quarter. After a timeout, the Privateers ended the penultimate period by scoring 15 of the last 21 points in the quarter thanks to a pair of threes by
Brialle Washington and five points from
Aaliyah Ellis in that stretch.
New Orleans ended proceedings by outscoring the Bengals 30-12 in the fourth quarter.
Jayla Kimbrough had seven points in the fourth while
Lauren Banks added six points in the final stanza.
The Bengals were led by Edurne Diaz de la Serna Munoz who had 13 points. Paulina Reichenauer finished with 12 points.
INSIDE THE BOX
Brown just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine assists. She also added six steals. Banks and Washington co-led the team in scoring with 16 points each. Kimbrough finished with 15 points and six boards. Ellis had eight points, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals.
