Privateers Return to HPC to Face East Texas A&M, Northwestern State

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team returns home for a pair of matches against the East Texas A&M Lions and the Northwestern State Demons on Thursday and Saturday at the Human Performance Center.

Thursday's match is the Pink Out match in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and those who have fought or are currently fighting breast cancer. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and any breast cancer survivors in attendance will be recognized during the match.

The Privateers are coming off a tough road trip that had losses at Stephen F. Austin and Lamar. New Orleans took the opening set against Lamar, but couldn't push through in the next three sets. Vanae Sapp finished with 14 kills and 21 digs, her highest totals of the season.

New Orleans had their first 20-kill set of the season when they accomplished the feat in the opening set against Lamar last Saturday. New Orleans currently ranks sixth in the Southland in kills per set at 12.19.

As a team, the Privateers are averaging 15.0 digs per set entering the week. Four Privateers are averaging over 2.5 digs per set this season: Sapp, Peyton Cole, Celia Mbaya and Ella Moss.

The Privateers are 3-3 all-time against East Texas A&M with two of those wins coming on the road. New Orleans is 10-20 all-time against Northwestern State and is looking to snap a seven-match losing streak against the Demons dating back to their last win in March 2021.
