Privateers Host Stephen F. Austin for Senior Night, Face Lamar to Close Home Slate

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers volleyball team will close out their home slate this week when they take on Stephen F. Austin on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Lamar on Saturday at 11 a.m.
 
The Stephen F. Austin match will be carried on ESPN+ and Senior Night festivities will precede the match as Courtney Roundtree, Akeir Scales, Lani Alleman, Ava Kennon, Alessandra Meoni and Vanae Sapp will be honored.
 
The Privateers last played on Thursday against Southeastern and lost 3-0 in Hammond. Meoni and Sapp co-led the offense with eight kills each. Roundtree, Meoni and Scales each had two total blocks.
 
This season in conference only matches, New Orleans has averaged 15.6 digs per set, which is three more than their average in 2024. Their conference only stats comparison from 2024 to 2025 has also shown an improvement of nearly 90 points in hitting percentages and more than two kills per set.
 
Roundtree (248.5) and Meoni (231.5) lead the team in points this season. Roundtree's 215 kills surpassed last year's career best for the senior when she recorded 213 kills in 2024. Meoni has 206 kills and seven matches with at least 10 kills this season.
 
The Privateers were defeated by Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches on Oct. 2. The Privateers are 5-19 all-time against the Lady Jacks and have not beaten Stephen F. Austin in 13 meetings since joining the Southland. The Privateers lost 3-1 to Lamar on Oct. 4.
 
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
Stephen F. Austin co-leads the Southland standings with an 11-1 mark, which is tied with UTRGV. The Lady Jacks have won four straight matches entering the week. As a team, Stephen F. Austin leads the Southland in points per set (17.88) and is third in opponent hitting percentage (.181). Katherine Holtman and Jordan Henderson both rank in the top ten in hitting percentage in the conference.
 
Lamar enters the week tied for fourth in the conference standings at 9-3 and two games out of a tie for first place. The Cardinals have won nine straight since dropping their first three matches of the Southland slate to UTRGV, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Southeastern. Lamar has the best opponent hitting percentage in the Southland at .177 and is third in the league in blocks per set at 2.24. Maja Malinowska leads the conference in total kills with 340.
