Privateers Conclude the Sugar Beach Bash with a Loss to UT Martin

LAFAYETTE – The New Orleans beach volleyball team (2-14) finished their time at the Sugar Beach Bash with a rematch against UT Martin in which the Privateers fell to the Skyhawks in a 4-1 loss–an improved final score compared to last weekends clash.

The one pair win of the match came from Savannah Moberly and Dayla Ward who returned to Court 5. They overcame a tight first set 23-21 and clenched their win in the second set 21-16. This was the first loss of the weekend for Renata Dykstra and Mona Salgado on Court 3.

The results of this match echo comments made by co-captain Nikelle Lander last week on the importance of growth. The team was able to learn from last weekend's matchup against UT Martin and improved their outcome, even if it wasn't ideal.

Despite finishing the weekend 0-4 the Privateers put up a good fight, winning on at least one court in every match. Two of the matches were decided by one court. The team's competitive spirit was evident this weekend, which will serve them well at Mid-Conference next weekend.
