NEW ORLEANS – Both the New Orleans Privateers men's and women's tennis teams were named to the ITA All-Academic List and 13 student-athletes earned individual distinction as ITA scholar athletes on Monday.
To qualify, each team has to carry a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 for the academic year. Individuals must obtain at least a 3.5 GPA throughout the academic year to be eligible to be named scholar athletes.
Four Privateer men earned a 4.0 GPA in the fall:
Matthew Armbruster,
Marius Gyllerup,
Marc Mail and
Joseph Townes. Also qualifying for the distinction of scholar athlete from the men's team were
Sep de Visser,
Mark Armbruster,
David Tesic and
Julian Franzmann from a squad that earned the Southland postseason championship and their second NCAA regional appearance in school history.
Nouray Khaled and
Fleur Sprengers earned a 4.0 GPA in the fall semester. In the spring,
Iris Danne and
Ananya Dhankhar sported perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Kateryna Kalistratova also qualified for the ITA scholar athlete list.
This marks the fifth consecutive year both teams made the ITA All-Academic Team list. The first such occurrence in program history for the men was in 2012 and 2013 for the women's team.
