FINAL RESULTSJOIN THE PRIVATEER LINKS CLUB

NEW ORLEANS – University of New Orleans golfers Matthew Lotz and Tom Watson finished inside the top 25 at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic on Wednesday afternoon. As a team the Privateers finished strong with a 1-under par score of 283 during the final round giving them three round total of 864.

For the second straight week, the Privateers were led by junior transfer Matthew Lotz. The Cape Town native finished inside the top 20 for the first time in his collegiate career after shooting 210 over 54 holes.

Playing in his second tournament for UNO, Lotz made 11 birdies and his 4-under par round during round two tied for the second lowest score on Tuesday. It was also his second round under 70 in six rounds as a Privateer.

Tom Watson finished just outside the top 20 after shooting a 211 this week—both a 10-stroke improvement on last week's Grover Page Classic and a new 54-hole low as a Privateer. Watson was 1-under par during the opening two rounds, and even par on Wednesday afternoon. He made a team-high 13 birdies at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic.

Rounding out the counters for the Privateers were Garrett Trahan, who shot 219, and Max Feistmantl, who shot a 228. Max made his first career eagle on the 431-yard 18th hole during the final round. Lotz, Watson, Feistmantl and Jude Bourque were all at par or better during UNO's final round.

Middle Tennessee took home the team championship with a score of 832, and Blue Raider Carter Maneth finished as the individual champion after shooting a 197.

The Privateers will take a week off before heading to Jonesboro, Ark. for the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate on Oct. 6-7. Fans can follow along @PrivateersGolf on X/Twitter for updates throughout the tournament.

HEAD COACH JEFF LORIO
"I realize that it hasn't shown up on the scoreboard just yet but this group is getting better. We showed a lot of improvement this event from our last tournament. The guys are starting to hold each other accountable, fighting hard out there and we are getting production from different guys throughout the lineup."

"As much as we feel that we have struggled the first two events, we are above .500 against Southland teams and have a chance with a good showing the next time out to get to .500 overall."

"The important thing for us is to keep our heads down and keeping learning and come out in two weeks at Arkansas State and prove that the hard work is paying off."
