Men's and Women's Tennis Return to Court, Travel to Alcorn State

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Privateers men's and women's tennis teams return to the court looking to keep their records unblemished as they both take on Alcorn State on Thursday at 12 p.m.

The men currently sport a 5-0 mark on the season while the women are out to a 4-0 start in 2026.

The women's team put together a solid performance in a 4-1 win against Jackson State during their most recent match. The Privateers once again sealed the doubles point as they have in all four matches this season. Doubles teams are a combined 10-2 so far this year.

Kateryna Kalistratova and Nouray Khaled moved back to flight one for the second time this season and engineered a 7-5 win. The duo is 2-0 at flight one and 2-0 at flight two in doubles.

In singles, the Privateers are a combined 18-4. Kalistratova and Fleur Sprengers have anchored the top of the rotation with a combined eight wins between flights one and two. Meanwhile, Khaled is also unbeaten in three completed matches at flight three.

On the men's side, singles have been nearly perfect. The Privateers have a combined mark of 26-2 in singles matches during their five overall bouts this season. Four men remain undefeated so far this year: Gonzalo Cotter, Beltran Fernandez, Carlos Melgosa and Jacob Rouleau-Mailly.

The Privateers had to rally in their last match after losing the doubles point, but did so with strong performances across the board in singles.

On top of the four singles victories last week, the top two flights went unfinished with Rouleau-Mailly up a set and Fernandez up a service break in the third set against Jackson State.

The Privateer men have won 14 straight against Alcorn State dating back to 2009. The women have won 10 straight since 2011.
