NEW ORLEANS – Keldrick Turner broke his own school record in the 400 meters, and University of New Orleans student-athletes set 12 personal bests in split-squad efforts at the Josh Reidinger Classic and the LSU Alumni Gold over the past two days.
Turner's time of 40.12 on Saturday afternoon was good for fifth place at Bernie Moore Track Stadium and surpassed his previous record-setting time of 40.26 at the Bobcat Invitational on April 4. At the end of the meet, he ranked No. 3 in the Southland, No. 34 on the NCAA East qualifying list, and No. 59 nationally at 400 meters.
UNO's 800M group also had a strong outing this weekend. In Baton Rouge,
Jose Manuel Rodriguez finished in third place with a time of 1:50.64, while
Brandt Blanchard placed fifth in 1:50.87. Saturday's effort was a new personal best for Blanchard and ranks him No. 7 on the Privateers' all-time performance list.
On the women's side,
Anais Sulpice finished in fourth place and now ranks No. 7 in the Southland with a time of 2:09.83. Her mark was a new personal best and keeps her at No. 2 on UNO's all-time performance list.
London Parker finished in second place in Birmingham with a time of 2:16.44, also a personal best.
The UNO men ran the 4x400-meter relay for the first time this season at the LSU Alumni Gold.
Olamipo Ladipo,
Tshilidzi Netshiombo,
Jose Manuel Rodriguez, and
Keldrick Turner finished in 3:19.65.
Ladipo also recorded a 200M time of 20.94 — the 16th-fastest time in UNO history and the 102nd-fastest in the NCAA this season. In the women's 200M,
LeeAira Williams finished in 24.17, a new personal best and the sixth-fastest time in school history. Williams now sits at No. 5 on UNO's all-time performance list.
Mason Appleton finished in third place in the 1500m on Saturday in Baton Rouge. Following a strong performance at last week's Bryan Clay Invitational, Appleton clocked a 3:58.08 at Bernie Moore.

Antonio Delgado (5000M - 15:56.24),
Serenity Harris (200M - 27.14),

Keon Woolridge (HT – 37.04m).
UP NEXT
UNO's entire track and field team will make the trip to Houston, Texas on April 30 for the Cameron Burrell Invitational. The one-day meet is hosted by the University of Houston and takes place at the Carl Lewis International Track Complex.
