NEW ORLEANS - The University of New Orleans track and field program qualified three student-athletes for event finals and set five personal bests on the opening day of the 2026 Southland Outdoor Championships on Thursday evening in Nacogdoches, Texas.
Keldrick Turner and
Yoran Kabengele-Kabala both qualified for the finals in the 200M dash with times of 20.79 and 21.021 respectively. Turner's time was the third-fastest in the field, while Kabengele-Kabala finished with the sixth-fastest time. Both Privateers won their heats - Turner in heat one and Kabengele-Kabala in heat seven.
Turner's time is the eighth-fastest in program history, and he remains fourth on UNO's all-time performance list after finishing in 20.82 at the Cameron Burrell Invitational two weeks ago.
Olamipo Ladipo and
Daryl Bachmann both finished second in their heats with times of 20.08 and 21.477, respectively — good for 10th and 18th place overall on the night.
Anais Sulpice was the third Privateer to qualify for an event final, this time at 1500M. She finished with a time of 4:36.50, good for fourth in her section and the second-fastest time among the nonautomatic qualifiers.
Erin Grime finished two spots shy of qualifying for the 1500M final with a time of 4:43.26.
For the second straight meet,
Ben Stumm set a new personal best at 1500M with a time of 4:01.50 - a three-second improvement on his race-winning time at the Cameron Burrell Invitational two weeks ago.
Alex Williams also set a personal best in the 1500M with a time of 4:07.46.
LeeAira Williams led the Privateer women in the 200 meters, finishing third in her heat with a time of 24.35. Her time Thursday evening is the 15th-fastest in school history. She remains fourth on UNO's all-time performance list with a time of 24.13 at the Cameron Burrell Invitational.
Katie Burnett and
Serenity Harris both set new personal bests in the event with times of 26.03 and 27.12, respectively.
Agathe Tronchon finished 11th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.90 — one second shy of her personal best. Tronchon's time was also just over a second shy of qualifying for Saturday's finals.
Antonio Delgado finished the final 10000M of his collegiate career in 34:20.89 - a 35 second improvement on his previous personal best set at last year's Southland Outdoor Championships. Freshman
Henry Livingston finished his first collegiate 10000M in 36:52.42.
Christina Davis finished 26th in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 35.17 meters. Competing in his first Southland Outdoor Championship, freshman
Keon Woolridge finished 21st with a top throw of 34.47 meters.
Day two of the Southland Outdoor Championships gets underway for New Orleans at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday when Davis and
Antonio Creger compete in the discus throw. Running events begin at 5 p.m. and will air live on ESPN+.
