New Orleans Athletics Hall of Fame
Men's Basketball (2003-2008)
Arguably the best all-around player in program history, the Privateers record books are filled with Bo McCalebb’s name. The 6-0 point guard from New Orleans wore the blue and silver more times than anyone in program history until Troy Green surpassed him in 2022.
With 2,679 points to his name, Bo remains the leading scorer in school history (779 points ahead of Mel Henderson), Sun Belt Conference history (337 points ahead of Louisiana’s Shawn Long), and still ranks 24th in Div. I scoring history. McCalebb is one of just 34 Div. I basketball players with 2,600+ points in his career. Bo is first in UNO history with 74 games of 20+ points, 610 free throws made, tied for first with 15 games of 30+ points.
Not just a pure scorer though, Bo also is sixth in school history with 378 assists, and is the all-time program leader in steals with 250. His defensive prowess earned him Sun Belt Defensive player of the year in both 2006-07 and 2007-08.
By the time Bo was done on the Lakefront, he had earned Sun Belt Freshman of the Year honors, three All-Conference honors, and following his junior season was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, and an Honorable Mention All-American by the Associated Press.
During his senior season McCalebb finished 9th in the NCAA in points per game at 23.2, and 16th in steals per game with 2.4 swipes per contest. McCalebb ranked sixth (25.0) and 48th (2.0) in the country as a junior in those categories, and fifth in the country in scoring as a sophomore after averaging 22.6 points per game.
Bo parlayed his success in New Orleans into a very successful career in European basketball, where he was a mainstay on the Macedonian National team. Earning all-tournament honors, Bo helped lead the Lions to their
best ever finish in international play when they finished 4th at EuroBasket ’11. At EuroBasket ’11 Bo led the tournament field in points scored with 235, and finished second behind the San Antonio Spurs Tony Parker in points per game.
Internationally McCalebb played for Paritzan, Montepaschi Siena, Fenerbahçe Ülker, Bayern Munich, Limoges, Gran Canaria and Zaragoza in Europe.  He was a two-time All-EuroLeague selection – once for Partizan and once for Montepaschi Siena.
