Gernhauser-Ezzell was one of the leaders during the first four seasons (1975-79) of the UNO women’s basketball program. She averaged 10.6 points in 92 games with the Lady Privateers, including a high of 13.5 points as a sophomore. During her time on the Lakefront, she led UNO in scoring in both the 1975-1976 and 1976-1977 seasons. She also led the Buck-ettes in assists in both the 1977-1978 and 1978-1979 seasons.

Gernhause-Ezzell also played two seasons of softball at UNO. She received her bachelor’s degree from the school in 1979 and was UNO’s softball coach in 1980. She lives in Metairie, LA., a suburb of New Orleans and was a member of the New Orleans-based Kate Latter’s team which is nationally ranked by the United Stated Slowpitch Softball Association.

As of May 2009, Gernhauser-Ezzell ranks 10th all-time in points scored (1,093) as well as fifth in field goals made (478). She is also 12th all-time in points per game (11.5).
