Caravella, MacMillan Unable to Stop Denver

The University of New Orleans (4-8 overall/0-4 Sun Belt) volleyball team fell at the University of Denver, 3-1 (30-26, 30-27, 33-35, 30-20), in Sun Belt Conference volleyball action Sunday afternoon. The Privateers dropped both matches on its Sun Belt Conference west division road swing.

In the third game, the Privateers fell behind 13-7 and were faced with match point down 29-24 before reeling off five straight points to knot the game. Both teams traded points until UNO's Melissa Caravella nailed two kills and the Privateers took advantage of a Denver attack error to avoid the sweep and force a fourth game.

New Orleans jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the fourth, but after a Denver timeout the Pioneers scored 13 of the next 17 points to take a 17-13 lead.

Junior Alison Howard had 43 assists and 12 digs while classmate Caravella finished with 13 kills, 13 digs and eight blocks. Freshman Jennifer Cruz had 12 kills.
