Men's Golf Takes Tenth at La. Tech/Squire Creek Classic

FINAL RESULTS

Choudrant, La. (Oct. 18, 2005) –
The University of New Orleans men's golf team shot a three round total of 888 to earn a tenth place finish in the Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Classic held at the par-72, 7,105 yard Squire Creek Golf Course.

The Privateers twenty-four-over-par team total for the tournament placed the squad ahead of Tulane (+48) and four other Sun Belt Conference foes: South Alabama (+27), North Texas (+34), Western Kentucky (+38) and Arkansas-Little Rock (+48).

Ole Miss took the 20-team field event with an 855 (-9). Texas-Arlington came in second with a five-under-par, followed by Mississippi State (+1), Louisiana-Lafayette (+14), Rice (+14), Louisiana-Monroe (+16), Houston (+17), Arkansas State (+18), Southern Mississippi (+19) and the Privateers.

Kenji Murayama was the top finisher for UNO with a three round total of 222 (+6) and a 37th place finish. Adam Collins, Anthony Cantu and Santiago Escobar each shot a 223 (+7) to finish in a tie for 41st. Jason Kuperman finished in a tie for 66th after posting a 229 (+13).

Texas-Arlington's Zack Reeves pared the fourth hole of a three-way playoff Tuesday afternoon to capture individual honors.
