NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans golf team continues its spring season with a trip to Sugar Land, Texas, for the Colin Montgomerie Invitational. The tournament takes place Monday and Tuesday at Sweetwater Country Club and is hosted by HCU.
FORMAT
Teams will play 54 holes over two days, with two rounds Monday and a final 18 holes Tuesday morning. The event will use a shotgun start with an 8:30 a.m. start time both days. The Privateers will be paired with Central Michigan, Missouri State (for the second straight week) and Southeastern.
The following schools are confirmed to compete in the event: HCU (host), Central Michigan, East Texas A&M, North Dakota, Midlands CC, Missouri State, Nicholls, Prairie View A&M, Southeastern, Texas Southern, Weber State and UIW. HCU will field both A and B teams.

Tom Watson tied for seventh as the University of New Orleans golf team placed eighth at the Gulf South Intercollegiate to open its spring season.
After opening with its worst round since the 2018 Southland Conference Championships, the Privateers improved by 24 strokes in the second round to climb as high as fifth place Monday evening.
Adam Trahan improved by eight strokes and
Matthew Lotz by nine, while
Taylor Boasberg shaved three strokes off his score between the opening two rounds. New Orleans finished eighth with a team score of 932.

Kyle Bennett finished all three rounds under par on his way to a third place finish two seasons ago. New Orleans finished the opening two rounds at 10-under-par courtesy of five individual rounds out of 10 by Privateer golfers. UNO made 58 birdies, the second most in the field, including 15 in the final round.
