SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Feb. 20, 2006) -The University of New Orleans men's golf team sits in a seventh place tie after shooting +25 for a two round total of 593 (304-289) in the UTSA Intercollegiate held Monday at the 6,691 yard, par-71 Oak Hills Country Club.
Adam Collins led the Privateers after the first two rounds with a one-under-par 141 (73-68). Collins sits in a fourth place tie and is 10 strokes behind Baylor's Ryan Baca (-11) who leads the individual competition.
Santiago Escobar (+6) is in a tie for 25th place after shooting back-to-back rounds of 74, while
Jason Kuperman (+11) shot a second round 70 to move into a 54th place tie.
Kenji Murayama (+13) fired a 78 and 77 and is in a tie for 62nd place, while
Anthony Cantu (+15) is in a tie for 69th after having rounds of 79 and 78.
Baylor (+5) leads the team competition after shooting a combined two round total of 573. Lamar (+8) is in second, while Louisiana-Monroe (+12) is in third.
Nebraska (+17) is in fourth, followed by Illinois St. (+20), Sam Houston St. (+23), UNO, Wichita St. (+25), Stephen F. Austin (+26), College of Charleston (+26), Rice (+27), Texas-San Antonio (+27), Texas Pan American (+35), Marshall (+40), DePaul (+47), Navy (+76) and Northern Iowa (+76).
The final round gets underway tomorrow with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
