TAMPA (Mar. 4, 2006) - Jason Kuperman and the University of New Orleans men's golf team are in first place after two rounds of the Dick Wittcoff Invitational played Saturday at the par-71, 6,830 yard University of South Florida Golf Course.
Kuperman (-1) is tied for the lead in the individual competition with Florida Southern's Greg Koch after shooting back-to-back rounds of 73 and 68.
UNO (+13) leads the team portion of the competition in the 18-team field by one stroke over Sun Belt rival Middle Tennessee (+14). Nebraska (+18) is in third, followed by Jacksonville St. (+27), Missouri St. (+28), Florida Southern (+28), Marquette (+28), Oral Roberts (+30), Arkansas St. (+31), Columbus St. (+36), Austin Peay (+37), South Florida (+38), Furman (+38), DePaul (+39), Troy (+44), Florida Atlantic (+45), St. John's (+64) and Bowling Green (+62).
The Privateers had all five golfers in the top 27 of the 90-member field.
Anthony Cantu (+5) is tied for 15th going into the final round after shooting a 74 and a 73. Kenji Murayama (+6) is tied for 18th after having rounds of 76 and 72, while
Adam Cornelson (+7) shot a 71 and 78 and is in a 22nd place tie. Adam Collins (+8) posted a 73 and 77 and is in 27th place.
The tournament concludes tomorrow with the final round beginning at 8 a.m.
