UWA Sweeps UNO as Privateers Conclude 2011 Road Slate

UNO Will Play Three Home Matches to Close Season This Week

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of New Orleans volleyball program could not muster a win in its road finale with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-14) loss to West Alabama on Saturday noon.

Angela Sanders and Olivia Drew combined for 15 kills without a single attack error in 28 attempts for UWA (20-10, 8-5 Gulf South Conference). Sanders totaled eight kills with Drew adding seven as each hitter attempted 14 attacks.

Alexis McHale distributed 27 assists and helped drive the Tigers to a .405 hitting percentage. The win was the second this year for UWA over UNO (2-19, 0-11 GSC) after defeating the Privateers 3-0 in New Orleans earlier this season.

Elena Villar was the leading offensive player for UNO with six kills. Tory Hearn contributed five kills with Laila Hansen rounding out the top hitters for the Privateers with four kills.

UNO setter Ryan Hamilton had 17 assists while Hansen paced the defensive efforts for the visiting squad with seven digs.

The Privateers will return to action on Wednesday at the Human Performance Center for a 7 p.m. contest against Southern (N.O.). UNO's season will conclude on the weekend with matches against Valdosta State and West Georgia at the Lakefront Arena Auxiliary Gym on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
